“There is nothing sustainable about a global economy based on resource extraction and GDP growth, it is leading us nowhere, or even worse, annihilation.” …Steve Jones

Permaculture is the opposite, a way to think, plan and design a different world. The process is already well in motion, join this vital, vibrant global movement, a Permaculture Design course is your route into this exciting world of different opportunities.

Certain patterns, such as those embedded in nature are universal and can be shared between all of us, creating a united vision. Permaculture is a powerful set of tools to solve problems and to enab;le people to work together more effectively.

What is a PDC?

A permaculture Design Course is a crash course in permaculture. It covers a curriculum based on Bill Mollison’s Permaculture Designer manual and is full of insights, ideas and creative ways of thinking that for many partiicpants can be life changing.

If you feel the world is gong crazy and doesn’t makee much sense any more then this is the course for you. It shows many options and different ways twe can work together to meet our needs

Treflach farm

The PDC is based on a real working farm which has been exploring permaculture for 12 years, plenty of practical examples and experiences to draw on. If you are licky enough to live in travelling distance from the farm uyou are welcoem to come along for our Thursday volunteer sessions where we are building and running a vegetable garden that also doubles as a soil building experiment.

We can also arrange on-farm weekends for visits, practical sessions and demonstrations on request. From fermenting foods, to making biochar, working with livestock or exploring natural history, there are many avenues for further and deeper study.

Steve will be leading a team of experienced teachers to bring many different perspectives to this learning experience.

“I have been immersed in permaculture my whole life really, officially as a practitioner since 1991 but my background is a student of ecology and sustainable development. I grew up in a farming community in Shropshire, and have lived in Wales mostly since.”

Sector39 was registered in 2014 formally, but the team of people around S39 has been teaching PDC’s under that name for much longer, and are now a veterans of over 50 of these powerful courses, there is access to a huge body of experience.

Sector39 has many friends, students and contributors in East Africa and there is always a global dimension to these courses.
