Learning to grow
One key theme for 2024 is ongoing practical support among active permaculture practitioners worldwide. S39 is connecting farmers in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda with community growers in Wales, the UK, and Europe. I am planning regular in-person sessions at Treflach Farm, as well as online for international participants. Instead of running a full online PDC this year, we will facilitate online peer-to-peer mentoring through a regular workshop session via chat apps such as zoom.
Since 2018 S39 has worked with refugee groups in settlements across east Africa and this has been both an eye opening experience and steep learning curve. We aim to build much stonger and on going links with theese pioneers, who are very much on the front line of permaculture.
Permaculture UK
S39 is based at Treflach Farm, right on the Shropshire/Powys border. We hold regular informal sessions for skill sharing, chatting, and volunteering, as well as more formal training in both horticulture and permaculture design. We are building a mandala garden and conducting ongoing, long-term soil-building experiments alongside growing food and a proud to be part of pionnering regenerative farm.
International
S39 operate a Training of Trainers program and support local regional training hubs in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.
We offer exerience and networking support small farmers, schools and refugee groups across the region. We are especially keen to link pioneers and teachers in refugee communities, to support and mentorship from around the world.
Many people around the world are facing big changes, challenges, and problems, made worse by climate change, money issues, and conflict. Permaculture is a way to help us cope and deal with these changes. It teaches us to be flexible, clever, and supportive of each other. We can use permaculture to get what we need by working in a good way with nature and our community. This can make our lives better and we can learn from it.
Regular on-line support
Starting in February S39 will begin offering a free on line session each week. Join the Permaculture club on Zoom to share ideas, successes and challenges. We want to share your stories world wide and build the case for permaculture.
Term 1 Starts Tuesday 6th Feb for 8 weeks.
