S39 Academy are exploring how we might deliver permaculture tuition online, in an interactive format, that does not require too much bandwidth. Let us know if you are interested in joining in, we are testing some modules at the moment and inviting some feedback and we will run this course in real time over two weeks:
- July based at Treflach Farm in the Welsh borders
- September from Kumi Happy Home in Eastern Uganda.
We are planning live Zoom chats on each evening to bring the group together and this will link to practical activities going at the course venue. Some people will be able to attend in person, observing social distancing regulations and current medical advice, of course. But for those attending solely online we hope to recreate the real course experience by running the course in real time and having live content with subject experts and practical demonstrations.

The Plan is to build a series of lessons here and invite discussion and feedback. There are 12 units and a design project to complete, you can work alone, with friends and neighbours, or with people in other locations across the internet.
Permaculture is a community of people supporting each other as much as a body of information, it is a fresh and insightful way of looking at the world that helps realise the power of collaboration and co-operation and finding a harmonious path with self, community and the natural world. Many of our students and participants are in Africa without the same connectivity enjoyed in UK, this is a global course and I hope it will be accessible for all.
It might be a bumpy ride as we are working out a simple and easy way to do this, but are inviting people to join us on this journey.
