The primary ethics of permaculture include earth care, people care and resources share. Biodynamic farms and gardens work to bring plants, animals, and soil systems together through living, conscious relationship, so that they each support and balance the whole. Syntropic farming is an intensive from of agroforestry that imitates market gardening and slash and mulch agroforestry, in order to provide yields at all stages of succession, generate its own fertility, with the end goal of creating a productive forest that imitates the structure and function of native forests. Our combined innovated process creates a fully enriched food security training program, that provides indigenous food sovereignty, restores the health of the land, creates community resilience and allows our abundant yields to be share forward.
According to Appleseed Permaculture, over 1000,000 people are now certified in Permaculture in more than 140 countries with more than 4000 projects on the ground. International fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) reported that permaculture is a viable solution to help combat food insecurity for the 15 percent of the global population that is malnourished. Permaculture farmers in Malawi have, on average, better food security, larger diet diversity, and higher crop yield compared to conventional farmers. We carefully listened to our community leaders to understand their vision and needs so we can do everything we can to exceed our community members expectations. With proper funding we hope to take our education and community service to the next level and create the Odienya permaculture institute community-based organization. The next step in our organization is to start the Odienya Permaculture institute in the rural area of Odienya-Rongo, and maintain our training farm in Bungoma county. The immediate needs in the areas we serve are lack of training, consistent clean water, individual food subsistence and healthy soil plants to produce a marketable yield. The main barriers to accessing the proven techniques of permaculture are: 1 Cost of farming equipment. 2 Location of training facilities and transportation cost. 3 Access to clean water for subsistence and farm irrigation through the year. 4 Lack of access to training. 5 Financial insecurity. We welcome enthusiastic people who want to get their hands dirty and learn about permaculture in harsh climates! Please support us by donations to help some students who are not able to pay for themselves. To support this program we would greatly appreciate any amount donated.
