Storm damage

A few short months ago Lake Victoria rose to its highest recorded level. The floods were caused by a combination of extremely heavy rainfall, the deforestation happening around the lake causing faster drainage, but also eroded soils serve to make the lake shallower.

Sector39 were able to make a  £200 donation via PermoAfrica Centre to support some of the lakeside farmers who lost their crops. Seeds are expensive, and they could not afford to replant however we were able to help them. Strong unions of farmers, permaculture trainers like Paul at PermoAfrica together with international connections help build resilience.
